Tan Brown Named NJCAA All-American After Standout Season
Florida State College at Jacksonville is proud to celebrate sophomore guard Tanaujeah Brown, who has been named an NJCAA Division II Third Team All-American. Brown capped off an incredible season in which she averaged 20.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 3.3 assists per game. The honor, which recognizes the nation's top basketball players, places Brown among the best of the best in collegiate athletics.
"My sophomore year was amazing," said Brown. "I achieved my goals of what I wanted this year. I helped change the program around. I was named Player of the Year. I also became an All-American. My advice to anyone watching is to learn from your mistakes and never give up."
Brown also reflected on her growth under Head Coach Jessica Eaton's leadership. "Playing for Coach E made me a better player. She allowed me to feel comfortable and play to the best of my abilities. She made sure I had a better experience than last year," she said. "She is a great coach who helped me on and off the court. Whatever I needed, she was there for me! I am very thankful I got to play under her in her first year as head coach!"
Coach Eaton praised Brown's impact both on and off the court: "Tan has been a leader since day one. She plays with heart, grit, and an unwavering determination. Tan is our first All-American for women's basketball in quite some time. She is setting the standard and playing a major role in taking this program in a great direction. This honor is a testament to all the hard work she's put in—on and off the court."
Her consistent leadership, explosive scoring, and commitment to excellence helped elevate FSCJ Women's Basketball and set a new standard for the program.
Director of Athletics Jerry Thor reflected on the significance of this milestone: "Earning All-American honors is a clear reflection of Tans's hard work and exceptional talent. This is a well-deserved recognition, and we're proud to have her represent FSCJ Athletics at the highest level."
