BlueWave women surge falls short

Florida State College at Jacksonville women's basketball team hit the road once again headed to Ocala, FL this week. The BlueWave were headed to compete against the Patriots of College of Central Florida.

The first quarter found a close low scoring game between the BlueWave and Patriots women's basketball teams. Second half found more action as the College of Central turned the game up a notch by attacking the rim. The Patriots aggressiveness to the basket found them heading to the freethrow line helping to extend their lead. The BlueWave finding themselves down at the half knew they had an uphill battle to get back in the game.

Third quarter generated a slow start for both teams in terms of field goals, but FSCJ was able to win the quarter helping to shrink the deficit within 12 points. The BlueWave intensity spilled over into the fourth quarter generating an eight point run that narrowed the gap down to within three points. FSCJ's drives, solid finishes and trips the freethrow line contributed to the additional points accumulation. However, it was short lived as second chance opportunities began to fade and the inability to connect grew. With the time running down, the BlueWave began to foul to stop the clock for additional opportunities to possibly convert. Unfortunately, it also gave the Patriots more opportunities to hit more free throws widening the gap in the 57-42 loss.

Sophomore guard Monique Bryant led the FSCJ BlueWave with ten points, seven rebounds and four assist.
