Mansell's 30 point game not enough to secure win over Central Florida

The BlueWave women' s basketball team (1-3) played host to conference foe College of Central Florida (1-3).

In their last match-up FSCJ picked up a road win against College of Central Florida in overtime. The BlueWave were looking to secure another win now having the home court advantage.

FSCJ came out attacking from the start, solid ball movement and crisp cuts gave them immediate opportunities to jump ahead in the opening minutes of the game. From there it was a battle between the Patriots of Central Florida and the our BlueWave women. The second quarter found FSCj going on a 20-10 run that led them into halftime ahead 37-30. 

Halftime provided the team an opportunity to recharge and come out energized to repeat the first half, but the women struggled to gain their momentum back. The final quarter the BlueWave made a surge but it was not enough as College of Central Florida outscored to pick up the 65-61 victory in their second meeting.

Freshman guard, Kayla Mansell, contributed to the fight dropping 15 points in each half of the game for an FSCJ career high 30 points, 5 steals and 4 assists. Teammate Valicia Demeritte added 11 points and Gift Sampson grabbed 8 boards for game.
