Florida State College at Jacksonville men's basketball player Tarence Guinyard was selected as the FCSAA Region 8 Player of the Week for DII. This marks Guinyard's second time receiving the award this season.

Guinyard, a sophomore and second-year starter, is a Tampa, FL native who graduated from Riverside High School here in Jacksonville in 2022. He earned All-Central Conference First Team for FSCJ last season and has improved in virtually every statistical category this season. He is one of two returners to the FSCJ men's basketball program this season. The FSCJ men's basketball team has an undefeated record on the season at 9-0. Guinyard's performance for the team to start the season have led the men to more victories already this year than all of last season.

Averaging 37 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4 steals, and 7.5 3-pointers made per game last week, Guinyard led FSCJ to two massive home victories over Santa Fe College and South Georgia Tech The victories kept FSCJ unbeated on the season. After a 7-game homestand, the men travel to Tampa, Florida this weekend for two challenging matchups versus St. Petersburg College and Hillsborough Community College.
