Basketball steps off the court and into Chappell Daycare Center

Men's Basketball took time away from the court two days in a row to visit the FSCJ South Campus Chappell Daycare Center. Chappell South is a free standing child development facility utilized by local families for day-care and early education.

The basketball team participated in a variety of different engagement items at the daycare with the children. In the classroom they read to students, helped them complete puzzles and build with Legos. When they ventured outside, they played catch, soccer and tag.

"One of our smaller guards was able to fit on the tricycles and race around with the little kids. They loved it." said men's coach John Putyrski.

The rest of the players had to explain what it's like to be 'so tall' and a basketball player in college. The men's basketball team is hoping to continue to foster our relationship with Chappell Schools and most importantly help to mentor the children.

"Hopefully," continued Coach Putyrski, "they and their families can make a field trip to one of our games this season to see our men play."
