New faces fill BlueWave men's basketball roster for 2019-2020 season

This year's BlueWave men's basketball program will have a crew of new faces.

2019-2020 will see alot of new editions to the FSCJ men's basketball roster. Coach Burnell has worked hard recruiting and the program has gone through some major changes from last season. The team was built upon the four returning sophmores from 2018-2019. Leading that charge will be last years leading scorer, guard Eddie Davis. Davis averaged 13 points per game last season to help start the transformation of the BlueWave program.  Forward Sam Jackson was the team's leading rebounder averaging 6 rebounds per game, while forward Loro Natana and guard Gunnar Gentry added valuable playing time to FSCJ's visible progress. "This group has shown great improvement and will be relied on to provide valuable leadership" stated second year head coach Frank Burnell.

"The new additions to this year's team may be young, but they are very talented" said Burnell,"we are excited about the size and athleticism they are adding to the roster." The strength of this incoming class seems to lay in the frontcourt presecence that FSCJ has been lacking. With the additions of Ja'Derryus Eatmon, Johnny Brown, Justin Myles along with Jacksonville native Kenny Banks this group will add the size and length necessary to compete in the Mid-Florida Conference.

A combination of transfers and newcomers for FSCJ will bring a wealth of skill to the backcourt. Evan Busby, Jordan Mitchell and Terry Parker High School's Chris Clark will all compete for minutes at the point guard position. Myles Cowart, a redshirt freshman transfer from Edward Waters College and Kedarrius Tinker a transfer from Mississippi Delta Community College will add much needed perimeter shooting and experience.

The BlueWave will open up their season on the road this Friday as they travel to Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, FL. There they will compete against the Raiders at 8:30 pm before facing Tallahassee Community College at 4:00 p.m. the following day.

FSCJ will host their first home game against Red Devil's Academy Saturday November 9th at 4:00p.m.
