Baseball falls to St Pete after sixth inning score

Sunday's game against St Pete College was a heartbreaker for the BlueWave, as they lost the lead late in a 9-2 defeat.

FSCJ played host to the Titans of St. Pete College in game two of the series on Sunday

The opening innings were locked in a stalemate with neither team registering runs for three innings. It was at the top of the fourth that St. Pete made the first mark on the scoreboard to break the ice. In the bottom of the fifth inning, FSCJ would tie things up at one when Kyran Coleman singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. With the game tied at one and St Pete batting in the top of the sixth, the Titans tripled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs. St Pete would go on to score an additional three runs in the seventh inning off a homerun. The eighth inning, the Titans crossed two more across the plate before FSCJ cold answer back with their final run of the game. With the score 8-7, the BlueWave struggled to contain the high-powered offense of St Pete College giving up one last final run to bring the game to a close with a 9-7 loss for FSCJ.

 

Jordan Briones took the loss for the BlueWave, lasting five and a third innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out five. Coleman went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead FSCJ in hits.
