Athletic Director's Welcome

Athletic Director's Welcome

The BlueWave Athletic Department continues to focus on fostering the lives of over 100 student athletes annually.  We feature seven competitive collegiate teams, five fitness centers, intramural events and oversee the Outdoor Education Center at the Nassau campus. In 2020/2021, we are adding Beach Volleyball as a spring sport.  Beach is an emerging NJCAA sport that will compete in the spring season.

We implemented the BlueWave Life Skills program in 2016 to provide a more holistic experience for student athletes, focusing on five key components – personal development, service, athletic excellence, academic excellence and financial/career development. Through this program, athletic teams lead or participate in various community service projects. In addition, we provide a leadership opportunity and empowerment through a Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The purpose of the BlueWave SAAC is to provide insight on their experience, and recommend processes and policies that affect the lives of the student athletes. SAAC members are made of two representatives (one freshman and one sophomore from each team).

Our BlueWave Athletic Department is also proud to provide opportunities in webcasting for students at FSCJ majoring in Converged Communications, Digital Media and Sport Management. As we move forward in the digital age, we continue to stream over 60 home sporting events, increase our social media presence and improve upon our media relations endeavors.

However, we are most proud of our student athletes. More than 50% of our student athletes annually earn a 3.0 GPA or higher.  Most of our sophomores go on to a four-year college to continue both their respective athletic and academic goals.  We look forward to continued academic success for our teams and student-athletes. Please make some time to come on out to show your support for our student-athletes and to see some exciting games.

Go BlueWave!
